Niagara Support Services (NSS) has been serving our community since 1953.

Although our name and programs may have changed over the past 60+ years, our purpose has never wavered. NSS continue to grow and thrive so that we can support people with a developmental disability in reaching their goals and leading their best lives.

Founded in 1953 by a group of visionary parents with the powerful motto “NO CHILD FORGOTTEN,” NSS has evolved from humble beginnings into a leading force for positive change. From our early days at the local YMCA to our current comprehensive range of services, our journey reflects a steadfast dedication to supporting individuals with developmental disabilities.

Maureen Connolly , PhD

1st Vice President

Maureen joined the Board on September 19, 2017 and has been serving as 1st Vice President since September 27, 2022. She is a Professor of Physical Education and Kinesiology at Brock University and is well known in her field.

Maria Imbriano

2nd Vice President

Maria joined the Board on September 21, 2021 and was elected as 2nd Vice President on September 27, 2022. She has experience as a Registered Early Childhood Educator and supervised an extended day learning program for 10 years. Maria is the mother of a child with autism and continues to educate herself and others on their incredible abilities.

Michael Sproule

Secretary-Treasurer

Michael joined the Board on September 20, 2016 and has been serving as Secretary-Treasurer since October 27, 2020. Michael retired from a 38-year career as Treasurer of Washington Mills Electro Minerals.

Barbara Allman

Director

Barbara joined the Board on September 21, 2021. She retired from a 35-year career as an educator and supported a family member with Down syndrome from preschool to adulthood.

Chris Russell

Director

Chris joined the Board on November 24, 2015. He is a Transit Supervisor at Niagara Falls Transit and is the “Face of Transit”, helping the community and various organizations throughout the years.

Christopher Zanuttini

Director

Chris joined the Board on January 25, 2022. He has been a Principal with the Niagara Catholic District School Board since 1997. Chris is also a former NSS board member and we are pleased that he has returned.
